The Security Watch Network for Good Governance has commended National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu and the Nigerian Army for recent military operations that led to arrests, arms recoveries, and disruption of terror activities across several states.
The group, chaired by Abdullahi Maikano, linked the gains to what it described as improved coordination among security agencies under Ribadu’s leadership.
“The progress we are seeing today is not by chance. It is the result of deliberate, strategic coordination led by the National Security Adviser, supported by the brave men and women of the Nigerian Armed Forces,” Maikano said.
Between June 25 and 26, 2025, the Nigerian Army reported a series of successful raids and patrols. In Borno State, troops of the 82 Division Task Force Battalion recovered over 1,600 rounds of live ammunition, including 408 rounds of 12.7mm and 1,200 rounds of 7.62mm, along with rocket-propelled grenades.
In a separate operation in Bama, soldiers from the 21 Special Armoured Brigade killed three suspected terrorists and destroyed their hideouts. Troops in Monguno intercepted a vehicle allegedly supplying fuel, food, and other essentials to armed groups.
In the Northwest, troops recovered a loaded AK-47 rifle after a gun battle in Kaduna’s Birnin Gwari area and neutralised a well-known terror leader called “Mai Dada” in Zamfara’s Maru Local Government Area.
Other arrests were made in the South and North-Central regions. In Bayelsa and Edo States, suspects were caught with firearms. In Plateau and Benue States, troops rescued kidnapped passengers and cleared criminal camps.
Abdullahi Maikano said the operations reflect a shift in security strategy. “These operations show that Nigeria’s security forces are better aligned and more proactive. We credit the NSA for his role in pushing this synergy,” he said.
The Nigerian Army, in its own remarks, said it would continue to go after criminal networks and work to ensure stability in affected areas.
Security Watch Network called on citizens to support the armed forces and expressed confidence in the current leadership’s ability to bring about lasting peace.
