The body of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari arrived at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua International Airport in Katsina around 2:00 PM on Tuesday aboard a Nigerian Air Force flight from London.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, and his deputy Faruk Lawal Jobe were at the airport to receive the remains.
The body was flown from the United Kingdom with Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Deputy Chief of Staff Ibrahim Hadejia, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar, Buhari’s nephew Mamman Daura, other family members, and senior officials.
Also at the airport were Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embaló, Niger Republic’s Prime Minister Ali Lamine Zeine, former Nigerian Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Niger President Mahamadou Issoufou, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, military chiefs, and several Nigerian governors.
Businessmen Aliko Dangote, Sayyu Dantata, and Dahiru Mangal were also present.
Katsina House of Assembly Speaker Nasir Yahaya Daura, state officials, and political figures attended the reception.
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu received Hajiya Aisha Buhari at the airport.
The funeral convoy later moved to Daura, where Buhari was buried according to Islamic rites.
