Yobe Teen Nafisa Wins Global English Competition in UK

Nafisa Abdullah, a 17-year-old student from Yobe State, Northeast Nigeria, has emerged as the world’s best in English Language at the 2025 TeenEagle English Language Skills Competition held in London, United Kingdom.

She topped over 20,000 participants from 69 countries in the UK Global Final of the competition.

Nafisa represented Nigeria through the Nigerian Tulip International College, Yobe State.

A family member, Malam Hassan Salihu, described her performance as a source of pride to the family, the state, and the country.

“Our daughter’s global success wouldn’t have been possible without Governor Buni’s extraordinary support for education in the state,” he said.

Salihu also acknowledged the role of the school’s management and teachers, stating that their efforts contributed to the victory.

Nafisa’s win came despite competition from countries with native English speakers.
