Appeal for Immediate Reconsideration of the Proposed Appointment of Saidu Yahya into the Kano Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission
We write this letter on behalf of the executives and entire membership of the National Forum of Kano Indigenes—with utmost respect and responsibility—to express both gratitude and concern. Gratitude for Your Excellency’s continued commitment to the ideals of justice and development under the Kwankwasiyya vision, and concern over the proposed appointment of Saidu Yahya, whose political and institutional affiliations raise serious red flags.
We commend Hon. Anas Abba Dala and other concerned Kano citizens who continue to support Your Excellency and who have stood with us in resisting the wrongful acting appointment of Barr. Zahraddeen Kofar Mata. Their stance on the side of fairness and public interest is deeply appreciated. Hon. Dala’s principled position reflects the kind of moral clarity our people expect from leadership at this critical time.
However, Your Excellency is respectfully reminded that Saidu Yahya, who is reportedly answerable to the current ICPC Chairman, poses a significant threat to the integrity and direction of this administration. The said ICPC leadership—known to be a direct beneficiary and loyalist of former Governor Ganduje—had in the past interfered with lawful and transparent local government contracts in Kano. These actions were widely seen as politically motivated attempts to discredit the efforts of your administration.
Appointing someone like Saidu Yahya, who is deeply embedded in that same structure, into a sensitive public office risks handing over critical internal information to individuals who may exploit it against the government. To many observers, this nomination does not appear based on merit or necessity, but rather as a quiet concession to external political forces—particularly the APC-linked network associated with the ICPC boss.
We therefore respectfully urge Your Excellency—through the Honourable Speaker and the House—to reconsider this nomination in the interest of safeguarding the credibility, strategic stability, and long-term success of your government.
We also appeal to members of the Kano State House of Assembly, as conscious and loyal stakeholders in the Kwankwasiyya project, to advise against the appointment and to resist any pressure to approve it. Similarly, we call on all local government chairmen to raise their voices, as their operations may be directly compromised by this appointment.
Let there be no misunderstanding—this letter is not an attack, but a caution. Our concern is genuine and grounded in loyalty to Your Excellency and the mandate given to you by the people of Kano. We cannot, in good conscience, remain silent while the keys to this administration risk being handed to individuals who once worked to silence it.
In the spirit of religious accountability, political foresight, and humane governance, we appeal to you—through this Honourable Assembly—to withdraw the nomination of Saidu Yahya and reaffirm the values that brought Your Excellency into office.
May Almighty Allah guide your leadership with wisdom and protect it from betrayal.
