The Secretary of Rano Local Government Area of Kano State, Dr. Ismail Yusuf Musa, has urged young girls to pursue education beyond secondary school, stressing that their advancement is crucial to societal progress.
Dr. Musa, who is also the founder of the Samiha Education Charity Foundation, made the call on Sunday during a graduation lunch organised for 710 girls who successfully completed their secondary education in Rano town.
According to him, the ceremony was aimed at inspiring the girls and their families to place greater value on education as a tool for development.
“Our aim is to promote girl-child education in Kano State and to strengthen the culture of learning as the bedrock of every society,” Musa said.
He explained that the initiative was in line with the vision of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and the policy direction of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration, which prioritises access to quality education.
Musa further noted that no society could progress without investing in its young people, particularly girls, whose role in shaping future generations is critical.
In his remarks, the Acting Chairman of Rano Local Government, Engr. Tukur Muhammad Wada, applauded the initiative and urged the graduands to remain committed to their studies.
“I urge you to pay more attention to seeking education because it is the surest path to empowerment and societal progress,” Wada said.
The graduation lunch attracted traditional rulers, religious leaders, politicians, educationists, and other stakeholders, all of whom pledged their support for girl-child education in the area.
