The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Aondona Dajoh, has resigned.
In a handwritten letter dated August 24, 2025, and posted on his Facebook page with the words “Let there be peace,” Dajoh announced his resignation, saying the decision was taken “in good faith and in the best interest of the state.”
He thanked his colleagues for allowing him to serve as “the first among equals” and said he would remain committed to his legislative duties and the representation of Gboko West State Constituency.
His resignation has sparked reactions in Benue politics as members and stakeholders await the choice of a new Speaker.
