Former Kano State Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, has dismissed allegations of corruption against his principal, Abdullahi Ganduje, describing them as politically motivated and misleading.
Garba, who is also spokesman to the immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, said Ganduje governed Kano with transparency, accountability, and left behind enduring legacies during his eight-year tenure as governor.
In a statement issued yesterday, Garba expressed concern over what he termed “a deliberate attempt by the Kano State Government to link Ganduje to financial misappropriation, corruption, and misconduct,” particularly allegations of overspending through the Protocol Directorate and claims of land grabbing.
He insisted that Ganduje’s administration prioritised development and prudent management of state resources.
“The references to alleged scandals are false and politically charged, designed only to undermine the former governor’s record of service to Kano State,” Garba said.
According to him, all activities of the directorate were administrative, lawful, and within state-approved budgets. “Any attempt to suggest otherwise distorts the facts and misrepresents the nature of governance under Ganduje,” he added.
He maintained that the former governor’s administration left behind enduring programmes and structures that continue to impact the state positively.
“Governor Ganduje’s record reflects decades of service to Kano State. These narratives are acts of misinformation aimed at distracting the public from real governance issues,” he stressed.
Garba urged the public, political actors, and the media to refrain from dragging Ganduje’s name into what he described as propaganda-driven attacks.
“If there are genuine concerns, there are proper legal channels to address them. Dragging a former leader’s name into these narratives is unjust,” he concluded.
