Former governorship candidate and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Ibrahim Ali Amin, popularly known as Ibrahim Little, has accused the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of being entangled in “too many corruption scandals,” urging him to stop the looting of public resources.
In a statement he signed on Tuesday, Little said he was “deeply concerned by the increasing number of corruption scandals under the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.”
He cited a report by Daily Nigerian which alleged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) traced ₦6.5 billion to the account of the Governor’s Protocol Director, Abdullahi Ibrahim Rogo.
“This should be a wake-up call for Governor Yusuf to take immediate and decisive action,” Little said.
According to him, the case was not the only one. He recalled previous allegations of the diversion of local government funds for the purchase of drugs from NOVOMED, a company reportedly linked to the nephew of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
“These drugs were neither supplied nor made available in government hospitals, raising serious questions about transparency and accountability,” he said.
He also noted that another corruption case had led to the forfeiture of over ₦1.1 billion to the ICPC recovery account.
“These are not mere accusations; they represent legal actions and court proceedings, which are deeply disturbing,” Little stated.
He faulted Governor Yusuf’s tendency to cite alleged excesses of the past administration, insisting that such claims cannot excuse ongoing irregularities.
“For instance, the recent claim that former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje spent ₦20 billion in just three months on protocol is a weak justification for ongoing corruption. Two wrongs do not make a right,” Little said.
He warned against the looting of public funds during a period of economic hardship.
“We are in a time of economic hardship, and Nigerians are struggling under the weight of inflation and poverty. The public treasury is a sacred trust, and those entrusted with leadership must protect it with integrity and the fear of God,” he added.
Little concluded with a reminder, saying: “On the Day of Judgement, we will all be held accountable before Allah (SWT) for our actions, especially those in leadership.”
