Radio Nigeria’s Pyramid FM in Kano has pledged to partner with the police to strengthen security awareness across the state.
The new General Manager of the station, Dr Garba Ubale Dambatta, made the pledge when he paid a courtesy visit to the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
He said the station would soon introduce a one-hour weekly programme that would focus on security issues.
“The police are doing their best to ensure safety in Kano. What they need now is the cooperation of the public, particularly by providing useful intelligence. Pyramid FM is ready to support them by giving airtime for awareness programs,” Dr Dambatta said.
He explained that since his assumption of duty, the station had undergone reforms that boosted its reach and visibility in Kano and neighbouring states.
Dr Danbatta assured the command of the station’s continuous support, adding that Pyramid FM would provide “every necessary assistance to promote peace and security.”
Responding, CP Bakori commended the new GM for “reviving the station within a short time,” describing his leadership style as progressive.
“You are very important to us because you inform the public about our efforts in securing lives and property. We urge you to continue educating citizens about the importance of peace and security,” the police commissioner said.
He also appealed to other media organisations to intensify campaigns for peaceful coexistence, noting that sustained enlightenment could help reduce crime in the state.
