The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Bayo Ojulari, on Thursday, alleged that his life and those of some management staff of the company were under serious threat following reforms introduced in the oil and gas sector, Vanguard reports.
Ojulari said the threats were linked to the ongoing transformation of the NNPCL and efforts to revive the country’s moribund refineries in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive.
Speaking while receiving a delegation of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Festus Osifo, at the NNPCL headquarters in Abuja, Ojulari lamented that some powerful interests opposed to the reforms were plotting to force him out of office.
He explained that management was exploring the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) model to restore the refineries to optimal capacity.
“Despite the threats to my life and those of some of our management staff, I remain committed to ensuring the refineries work again. I’m not hiding from anybody. I’m not a politician. This is a development plan for me, and I’m ready to learn whatever it takes to succeed,” he said.
Ojulari, however, assured PENGASSAN of his determination to stabilise the NNPCL and reposition the oil and gas sector for efficiency and growth.
