The political atmosphere in Kano State is gradually awakening ahead of the 2027 general elections. While campaigns have not yet officially begun, social media platforms and radio programs are already buzzing with conversations about political figures, policies, and promises. Among the names that continue to draw attention is that of Alhaji Ibrahim Ali Amin Little.
A seasoned politician and businessman, Ibrahim Little is no stranger to Kano politics. He once served as chairman of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in the state and has also contested the governorship seat. Today, he is a respected chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Over the years, his consistent commitment to the welfare of Kano residents has earned him admiration across political divides.
At a time when defections are often driven by monetary gains, contracts, or personal ambition, Ibrahim Little stands out as a rare breed. His decisions to move between political parties have never been about chasing patronage; instead, they have always been rooted in principle and conviction. For Little, loyalty is not blind—it is guided by ideology. Each time he has left a platform, it was because that party abandoned the very values it once claimed to uphold.
Unlike many politicians, Little’s political journey has not been guided by personal ambition alone but by a vision to see Kano and Nigeria thrive. Throughout his career, he has aligned himself with parties and platforms that prioritize real progress over mere rhetoric. His focus has consistently been on tackling the real issues facing ordinary households in Kano—poverty, unemployment, youth restiveness, and the growing influence of social vices.
If entrusted with the people’s mandate, Ibrahim Little has outlined a bold and transformative agenda for Kano State. At the center of his vision is a renewed focus on health and education, with plans to introduce ICT and artificial intelligence into public schools. He also envisions modern infrastructure—roads, electricity, and water supply—that will meet the needs of both urban and rural communities.
Rural development would receive particular attention, ensuring that no community is left behind. Through business-friendly policies, he plans to attract investment, create jobs for young people, and boost economic growth. Women and youths, he insists, would be empowered with deliberate programs that guarantee inclusive participation in governance and economic life.
Equally important to his vision is the restoration of the dignity of the civil service. By improving welfare and recognizing the critical role civil servants play in governance, Little hopes to rebuild trust between government and workers. He also emphasizes respect for religious and traditional leaders, ensuring that cultural values remain part of the governance framework.
Little’s reputation as a vocal critic of corruption further distinguishes him. Recently, he condemned what he described as “too many corruption scandals” under the current administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. Referring to the N6.5 billion fraud uncovered by the ICPC and EFCC, he called for urgent action to halt the looting of public funds, demonstrating his commitment to accountability and transparency.
For many Kano residents weary of empty promises and political betrayal, Ibrahim Ali Amin Little represents integrity and foresight. With his experience, dedication, and transformative ideas, he stands as a potential leader who could finally deliver the kind of change Kano citizens have long awaited.
