Former Governor of Jigawa State and Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Sule Lamido, says no right-thinking Northerner will vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Lamido made the remark at a meeting of the PDP expanded caucus held in Dutse, Jigawa State.
He accused successive APC administrations of inflicting “hardship, deceit, and betrayal” on Nigerians.
“We have been telling people Tinubu does not like the North, he doesn’t like anything that will help in developing the North. During his tenure as Governor of Lagos, Northerners were maltreated, attacked, and killed,” he said.
“In 2023, both the ACF, Ohanaeze, Afenifere, and other meaningful associations didn’t support Tinubu. He used money to influence his support and win the election,” he added.
According to him, “We warned people not to entrust him. They refused to listen and are now paying the consequences of their actions. It’s quite unfortunate for any Northerner to support Tinubu’s reelection bid despite the position he is holding, minister, governor, House of Representatives, among others.”
“I don’t think a right-thinking person from the North will support Tinubu’s reelection bid again in the coming 2027 election,” he stressed.
The PDP chieftain further noted that Nigerians had suffered for years under what he described as bad APC leadership, marked by poverty, insecurity, and hardship.
He added that Nigeria could only be rescued from its present condition if citizens united irrespective of political, religious, or regional differences.
Mr Lamido expressed optimism that with the current developments in the PDP, the party would “return to normal and do anything possible to save the country.”
