The Historical Society of Nigeria, Bayero University Kano (BUK-SHSN), has indicated interest in partnering with the Kano State Government to preserve historical storytelling through Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The President of the Society, Comrade Mustapha Musa, made this known during a courtesy visit to the Director, Kano State Institute of Information Technology (KSIIT), Alhaji Mu’utasim Uba Adamu, in Kano.
Musa said the administration of Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf had provided opportunities for youths to translate ideas into innovations through empowerment initiatives.
He explained that deploying technology in history would revive neglected aspects of the past and reshape narratives for present and future generations.
“As history students, we believe innovation can help revive the washed-away angles of history in our society, giving it relevance in today’s world,’’ he said.
Musa also called for sustained collaboration with KSIIT to enable history students acquire technological knowledge and innovative skills that meet global standards in historical preservation.
Responding, Adamu described AI-driven storytelling as an emerging tool for presenting authentic historical accounts.
He assured that KSIIT would support the initiative, noting that it aligned with Gov. Yusuf’s vision of advancing Kano to global standards through technology and innovation.
The Director commended the Society for the recognition and pledged to ensure the success of the proposed partnership.
