The Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Prof. Haruna Musa, says the institution has concluded plans to construct 500 housing units for its staff.
Musa disclosed this at the 2nd Registry Roundtable Discussion held at the Senate Chamber of the university last week.
He said the initiative was part of efforts to address the long-standing accommodation deficit faced by members of staff.
According to him, the university management has reached an advanced stage of discussions with the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) for the execution of the project.
“A memorandum of understanding will soon be signed with the bank to actualise this initiative,” he said.
The vice-chancellor noted that the housing scheme was one of the major staff welfare programmes his administration had prioritised since assuming office less than a month ago.
