Tinubu not ready for free, fair polls in 2027 — Galadima

A chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has alleged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is not prepared to conduct free and fair elections in 2027.

Galadima, who spoke on Monday during an interview on Prime Time, a programme aired on Arise Television, accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government of working to weaken opposition parties ahead of the next general elections.

According to him, the government’s actions suggest an attempt to stifle opposition and clear the way for the ruling party.

“This government is not ready to organise a free and fair election. From their antics and how they are destabilising parties, that suggests they don’t want an opposition at all for the election,” he said.

The NNPP stalwart, however, insisted that opposition parties would be present on the ballot in 2027, warning that the ruling APC risked losing power if it failed to change its style of governance.

“I want to assure them that there will be opposition, and if they don’t change their style of governance, they will lose this election,” he added.
