A fire outbreak on Saturday gutted a four-bedroom flat being used as a tailoring factory in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The incident occurred in the early hours at Benjamin, Alabama junction in the Eleyele area of Ido Local Government, destroying equipment and property worth millions of naira.
Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Mr. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident. He said the agency received a distress call at 4:15am and promptly deployed firefighters to the scene.
“Our personnel, led by ACFS Bamidele Samsudeen, immediately mobilised and responded to the call once the address was confirmed,” Akinwande said.
He urged residents to always provide accurate addresses when reporting emergencies to ensure quick response.
Last week, a separate fire incident razed six rooms at Ogbere Moradeyo in Egbeda Local Government after a cigarette stub was carelessly dropped by one of the occupants.
Residents have continued to express concern over frequent fire outbreaks across Oyo State, calling for more awareness campaigns and stricter safety measures to prevent further losses.
