Renowned Hausa political singer, Dauda Kahutu Rarara, has been conferred with an honorary doctorate degree by the European-American University, Commonwealth of Dominican Republic of Panama.
The award, Doctor of Science in Humanitarian Service, Music and Entertainment, was conferred on him during the university’s 23rd convocation ceremony held at NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja, on Saturday.
Presenting the certificate, Prof. Idris Aliyu of the university’s Governing Council, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, said the recognition was in appreciation of Rarara’s contribution to entertainment and humanitarian services.
The Northern Nigeria representative of the institution, Dr Musari Audu Isyaku, said Rarara and three others – Alhaji Ahmed Saleh Jnr., Prof. Mustapha Abdullahi Bujawa and Prof. Tarela Boroh – were honoured for their outstanding performance and contribution to humanity.
“This honorary doctorate degree and professor awards are a testament to their unwavering commitment to excellence and community development,” Isyaku said.
In his remarks, Rarara expressed excitement over the recognition, saying it would encourage him to intensify humanitarian services in Katsina State and across the country.
He also urged Nigerian youths to be patient and focused, noting that “there is wisdom in being purposive”.
Gov. Dikko Radda of Katsina State, who attended the event, described Rarara as “a phenomenon and unifier”, noting that the singer had undertaken humanitarian projects both in Katsina and other parts of Nigeria.
“Rarara is not only using his talent to entertain, but also to unify Nigerians. He stands as a symbol of tenacity and dedication,” Radda said.
Other dignitaries at the event included Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Minister of Transportation, Sen. Sa’idu Ahmad Alkali; Abubakar Kabir Bichi, Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation; Nasiru Sani Danlami, member representing Katsina Central; and Abdulmumini Zannah Bungudu, member representing Maru/Bungudu Federal Constituency.
