Kano govt launches water project in Gwarzo communities

The Kano State Government has commenced a landmark project to provide pipe-borne water to 10 communities in Gwarzo Local Government Area.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Zonal Information Officer, Gwarzo Zone, Auwalu Musa Yola, and made available to Kano Times on Friday in Kano.

According to the statement, the initiative is being implemented through the Ministry of Water Resources under the leadership of the Commissioner, Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa.

“The benefiting communities include Riji Tsauni, Kwarbai, Salihawa, Kakarya, Unguwar Dorawa, Unguwar Gaude, Riga/Buremawa, Kayyu, Daminawa and Kogon Kura,” the statement said.

It explained that the project would leverage the proximity of the main water pipeline running from the Fada and Kusalla water stations, which would ensure “easier and faster connection for the identified communities.”

The statement said the commissioner had dispatched engineers from the ministry on Sept. 24 to conduct technical assessments and distance meter testing between the affected communities and the main pipeline.

It added that the Executive Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government, Dr. Mani Tsoho, represented by the Council Secretary, Alhaji Sunusi Abdullahi Getso, welcomed the engineers on behalf of the council.

“He expressed delight and gratitude to the Kano State Government for taking this giant step towards enhancing the welfare of Gwarzo residents,” the statement said.

The Village Head of Riji, Alhaji Yusuf Riji, along with community leaders from Salihawa and Kakarya, as well as religious scholars and elders of the benefiting areas, also commended the state government.

“They praised the Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, and his Deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, for prioritising their communities in such a vital development project,” the statement added.
