Tinubu’s Wife Bags Chieftaincy Title in Gombe Emirate

Nigeria’s First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has been turbaned as the Sarauniyar Yaki (Queen Warrior) of Akko Emirate in Gombe State.

The Lamido Akko, Alhaji Umar Muhammad Atiku, conferred the title on Thursday during the First Lady’s two-day working visit to the state.

Atiku said the honour was in recognition of Mrs Tinubu’s efforts in promoting the welfare of vulnerable groups across the country.

Responding, the First Lady thanked the monarch for the recognition and assured that she would continue to prioritise programmes that support women and children, especially the girl child.

She also appealed to traditional rulers in Gombe to back her advocacy for improved welfare of the less privileged.

The event was attended by Gov. Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Rep. Usman Bello Kumo, and other dignitaries.

During her visit, Mrs Tinubu is also expected to launch the Renewed Hope Initiative Flow With Confidence Project, a menstrual health intervention for schoolgirls.
