Kan-Invest Secures Major Solar Investment for Kano

Kano State has entered into agreements with two leading renewable energy firms, Tricell Solar Solutions and IRS Green Energy Limited, to establish large-scale solar panel manufacturing plants in the state.

The Director General of the Kano State Investment Promotion Agency (Kan-Invest), Nazir Halliru, disclosed this on Wednesday, saying the Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) were signed during the Nigeria Renewable Energy Innovation Forum (NERIF) 2025 held in Abuja.

He explained that the deal, which is in partnership with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), will receive technical advisory and coordination support from the agency.

“I am thrilled to announce the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with two leading renewable energy companies — Tricell Solar Solutions and IRS Green Energy Limited — for groundbreaking investments in renewable energy in Kano State,” Halliru said in a post on his verified Facebook page.

According to him, IRS Green Energy Limited will establish a plant with an annual production capacity of 600 megawatts (MW), while Tricell Solar Solutions will set up another facility capable of producing 500MW annually.

Halliru described the move as a major milestone that aligns with the vision of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to promote clean and affordable energy while boosting local manufacturing and job creation.

“The initiative reflects Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s strong commitment to expanding access to clean and affordable power, promoting local manufacturing and industrial growth, and creating jobs,” he stated.

“With this bold step, Kano State is positioning itself as a renewable energy and green manufacturing hub in West Africa, driving progress, prosperity, and sustainability for future generations,” he added.
