INEC unveils AI-powered Assistant ahead of Anambra election

Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has launched an artificial intelligence-powered virtual assistant to train its staff ahead of the November 8 Anambra governorship election, the commission said on Friday.

The digital tool, called the INEC Training Virtual Assistant or INECTrainingBot, is hosted on Telegram and offers 24-hour access to election materials, interactive lessons, and self-paced learning modules.

“In preparation for the AnambraDecides2025 election, INEC is leveraging technology to strengthen the capacity of its personnel and stakeholders,” the commission said in a post on X. “The INECTrainingBot provides flexible, on-demand access to essential election training, ensuring our team can learn smarter and be fully equipped for their roles.”

The electoral body said the tool was designed to improve operational readiness and enhance the efficiency of training programs ahead of the polls.

INEC also announced that the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for new registrants in Anambra State will take place between October 22 and 26, while a mock accreditation exercise will be held on October 25 across selected polling units in the three senatorial districts.

The test will assess the performance of the upgraded Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the real-time uploading of results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal, the commission added.

The Anambra governorship election is scheduled for November 8, 2025.
