Kebbi State Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, Samaila Bambu, has reportedly been abducted by suspected bandits in his hometown of Bagudo, in Bagudu Local Government Area.
A resident familiar with the incident told newsmen that the lawmaker was abducted on Friday evening.
Confirming the development, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris, said he had just received the information and was awaiting a briefing from the state’s Director of Security.
“Yes, I have just received information about the alleged abduction of the Deputy Speaker in his hometown this evening. I am in touch with the Director of Security in the state. Once I get the details of what transpired, I will update you very soon on the government’s position,” Idris said.
He assured that the state government was closely monitoring the situation and would ensure the safe release of the Deputy Speaker.
