Husband allegedly kills wife over refusal to fry kuli-kuli in Kano

A Kano State High Court sitting on Miller Road has ordered the remand of one Idris Kurma in a correctional facility for allegedly killing his wife, Aisha Idris, over her refusal to prepare peanut cake, locally known as kuli-kuli.

The defendant was arraigned before Justice Musa Dahiru on a charge of culpable homicide, contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code.

According to the prosecution counsel, Barr. Lamido Abba Soron Dinki, the accused allegedly strangled his wife during a domestic quarrel that erupted in the Goda community of Shanono Local Government Area, Kano State.

During Tuesday’s proceedings, the prosecution applied for more time to enable it to present witnesses before the court.

In response, the defence counsel, Barr. Ibrahim Adakawa, requested full disclosure of the case details from the prosecution.

Justice Dahiru granted both applications and adjourned the case until Dec. 12, 2025, for continuation of hearing.
