DSP Barau Jibrin Reassures Kano North Remains Peaceful Amid Bandit Threat

The Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has assured residents of Kano North that the region remains peaceful despite recent bandit threats.

Senator Barau commended the prompt response of security agencies in containing bandit incursions into Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State.

He said troops of the Joint Task Force Operation MESA, under the leadership of the 3 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, successfully neutralised 19 bandits following a tip-off on their movements on November 1. The operation also safeguarded local communities from potential attacks.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau praised the gallantry of the troops and other security personnel involved in the operation. He, however, mourned the deaths of two soldiers and a vigilante who lost their lives defending the communities.

The lawmaker urged residents to remain calm, stay vigilant, and report suspicious activities to security agencies for timely intervention. He reiterated his commitment to supporting security operations across Shanono, the Kano North Senatorial District, and the state at large.

“Shanono and other local government areas in Kano North, and indeed the entire Kano State, remain peaceful. We will not allow marauding criminals fleeing military operations in neighbouring states to destabilise our communities,” Senator Barau stated.
