President Bola Tinubu has restated his administration’s determination to defeat terrorism and deepen Nigeria’s diplomatic relations with global partners.
Tinubu made the declaration on Thursday at the opening of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting, the first since July, later went into a closed-door session.
“We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all Nigerians that we will defeat terrorism. The task ahead is to move forward with clarity of purpose guided by the Renewed Hope Agenda to build a prosperous Nigeria,” Tinubu said.
The president’s remarks came days after U.S. President Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern,” a decision the Federal Government has described as a misrepresentation of the country’s security situation.
Tinubu, in his first public response to the development, said his administration would continue to engage the international community to promote peace, stability, and economic growth.
“Despite political headwinds and fears, we will continue to engage with our partners. The success of the $2.3 billion Eurobond, which was oversubscribed, is a sign of confidence in our economy,” he said.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to national unity and urged members of the Federal Executive Council to remain focused on implementing government reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The task ahead is immense, but we are resolved to move forward with unity and purpose,” he added.
