The Department of Horticultural Technology at Audu Bako College of Agriculture, Dambatta (ABCOAD), has officially commenced the harvesting of honey, marking a key milestone in the institution’s beekeeping development initiative.
The Head of Department, Ahmad Sani Yakasai, presented the first batch of honey to the Provost, Professor M.A. Wailare, at his office on Monday, November 10, 2025.
The development underscores the College’s commitment to promoting practical agricultural education and supporting sustainable agribusiness ventures.
Receiving the honey, Professor Wailare praised the department for its innovative approach and dedication to hands-on learning.
He said, “This achievement shows that our students and staff can transform ideas into viable agricultural products. ABCOAD will continue to support initiatives that promote innovation and practical learning within the College.”
Yakasai, in his remarks, thanked the Provost for his continued encouragement and institutional support, describing it as instrumental to the department’s success.
He reaffirmed the team’s commitment to contributing to the growth and development of both the Horticultural Technology Department and ABCOAD.
The honey production project is part of ABCOAD’s broader efforts to diversify its agricultural programs, promote research-driven innovation, and equip students with practical skills in sustainable food production systems.
