Kano Deputy Governor’s Stolen Vehicle Recovered, Driver Arrested

The Kano State Police Command has recovered a Toyota Hilux vehicle belonging to the convoy of the Deputy Governor following its reported theft.

According to official sources, the vehicle was traced and retrieved in the early hours of Wednesday through a swift and coordinated operation by security operatives.

Confirming the development, the Office of the Deputy Governor said in a statement signed by Press Secretary Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu that the suspect — a permanent and pensionable driver attached to the convoy — has been arrested and is assisting the police with their investigation.

Shuaibu described the incident as “a clear breach of trust” by the driver and praised the prompt response and professionalism of the Police and other security agencies, which led to the rapid recovery of the vehicle.

He added that the Deputy Governor’s Office “deeply appreciates the commitment of the security agencies involved, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, for their diligence and swift action.”

The statement also urged the public to remain calm, assuring that “the security of lives and property remains the top priority of the Kano State Government, both within and outside the Government House.”

While the motive behind the theft remains unclear, police are continuing their investigations to determine if there were any accomplices or other factors involved.

The recovery of the vehicle is part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to strengthen surveillance and safeguard government assets in Kano State.
