The Skyline University Nigeria (SUN), Kano, on Saturday held its 4th Convocation Ceremony, graduating 180 undergraduate and 43 postgraduate students.
The ceremony attracted senior government officials, traditional rulers, academics, parents and other stakeholders.
Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, represented by his Deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, commended the university for promoting quality education in the state.
He said Skyline University had continued to provide opportunities for young people to learn and innovate, while equipping them to compete globally.
The Chancellor of the university and Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, urged the graduates to apply their knowledge to solving societal problems.
Sanusi said education must go beyond obtaining certificates, stressing that knowledge without action was of little value. He also expressed satisfaction with the high number of female graduates, noting that they constituted 60 per cent of the class.
He announced the approval of seven new part-time programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and new partnerships with universities in the UK, Canada, Morocco and India.
Former Kano State Governor, Sen. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, who served as Special Guest of Honour, congratulated the graduating students for their hard work and commitment.
Kwankwaso urged them to use their education to create opportunities and contribute to national development.
The event featured the conferment of degrees and awards to outstanding students, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation and global competitiveness.
