In Kano State politics, where ambition often trumps principle, Bashir Hayatu Jantile has once again exposed himself as a purveyor of gossip disguised as analysis. Known for controversy rather than insight, Jantile shows a willingness to smear reputations when personal demands are unmet, and his latest attack on Yusuf Abdullahi Atah, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, is a glaring example.
Ata’s journey in public service is rooted in dedication and competence. He began as a classroom teacher before transferring to the Kano State Ministry of Education, where he served as an inspector in Business Education. He also worked at the Kano State Housing Corporation as a Principal Planning Officer, eventually resigning from civil service to pursue politics
In 1999, Ata was elected as a Member of the Kano State House of Assembly to represent Fagge constituency under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Though he lost his seat in 2003, he returned in 2011, won reelection in 2015, and was nominated Majority Leader. His exemplary performance eventually earned him the position of Speaker, a role that showcased his ability to unite legislators and navigate complex political landscapes
Jantile audaciously claims that Atah is dividing the APC in Kano, yet the truth is the opposite. Atah has dedicated years to uniting party members, bridging divides, and fostering collaboration. His record of service is concrete, while Jantile’s claims amount to little more than empty noise
This pattern is familiar. Some political commentators operate with a sense of entitlement, expecting favors and rewards, and when denied, they lash out, twisting truth into slander. Jantile’s baseless accusations are a textbook case of this petty behavior
Atah’s leadership emphasizes dialogue, inclusiveness, and the greater good, whereas Jantile trades in distraction, mischief, and character assassination. His public theatrics cannot erase the impact of Atah’s work, which has strengthened the APC in Kano.
The people of Kano are no fools; they recognize real leadership marked by integrity, unity, and service. Abdullahi Yusuf Atah embodies these qualities, while Jantile embodies opportunism and selfishness
