Former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, on Wednesday urged the Federal Government to take immediate and decisive action in response to the recent surge in insecurity across Nigeria.
Kwankwaso, the NNPP national leader, in a statement shared on his social media account, highlighted several incidents that he said illustrate the urgent need for national attention.
“The recent surge in insecurity in Nigeria has reached a level that demands urgent attention from all authorities, especially the Federal Government,” he said.
He expressed concern over the abduction of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State, describing the incident as “deeply worrying and echoing a disturbing pattern from the recent past.”
He also condemned the killing of Brigadier Gen. M. Uba by terrorists in Borno State, calling it “one of the darkest moments in our nation’s fight against terrorism,” and demanded “an immediate and thorough investigation.”
Kwankwaso drew attention to mass kidnappings in Zamfara State, calling them “truly heartbreaking,” and urged the “swift rescue of the victims.”
He further noted a rise in bandit attacks in Kano State, particularly in Shanono and Ghari Local Government Areas, and praised the Kano State Government for its response, including “the donation of operational vehicles to security forces.”
“The Federal Government must fulfill its primary responsibility. These incidents are not isolated; they reveal serious setbacks in the battle against insecurity,” he said, urging authorities to “take decisive action by reinvigorating our armed forces and empowering the Nigeria Police Force to effectively protect and defend our people from these acts of terror.”
