The Kano State Ministry of Women Affairs, Children and Persons with Disabilities has commended the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kano State Chapter, for its continuous contribution to women’s health, empowerment and public awareness in the state.
The commendation was conveyed by Hajiya Nafi Muhammad Yakasai, who represented the Commissioner, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi HOD, at the presentation of NAWOJ’s statement signed by its Chairperson, Sayyida Bahijja Malam Kabara, and Assistant Secretary, Comrade Aisha Muhammad Yalleman.
Yakasai praised NAWOJ for organising impactful programmes, including its recent breast cancer awareness campaign for women journalists in Kano.
“NAWOJ has remained consistent in championing issues that concern the wellbeing of women and children. The recent breast cancer awareness campaign is another demonstration of the association’s commitment,” she said.
She also commended the Aminu Magashi Foundation (AMG) for sponsoring the seminar and supporting women’s health initiatives in the state.
“The support from AMG has greatly improved access to vital health information and services, especially for women and children across Kano State,” she added.
Yakasai further appreciated Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for what she described as his unwavering support to women, children and persons with disabilities. She said the appointment of Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Hod as Commissioner was well deserved and aligned with the governor’s commitment to inclusive governance.
In the statement, NAWOJ Kano Chairperson Bahijja Malam Kabara expressed gratitude to the Ministry for its recognition and willingness to collaborate with the association.
“We appreciate the Ministry’s support and partnership. NAWOJ remains committed to enhancing public enlightenment on issues affecting women and children,” Kabara said.
Assistant Secretary Aisha Muhammad Yalleman also reaffirmed NAWOJ’s resolve to continue working with government agencies, NGOs and development partners.
“Our focus is to strengthen advocacy and promote initiatives that advance the welfare of women and children in Kano State,” she stated.
