The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone One Headquarters, Kano, AIG Ahmed Garba, has convened a strategic security meeting to address the recent surge in banditry in parts of Kano State.
The meeting, held on November 25 at the Zone One Headquarters, brought together tactical and intelligence commanders from both Kano and Jigawa states.
In a statement signed by the Zone One Public Relations Officer, CSP Bashir Muhammad, Garba said the session focused on developing a coordinated response to the growing threat.
According to the statement, the AIG and field commanders “discussed modalities to end the violence affecting innocent citizens and devised a plan to complement the deployment of policemen from the Kano Command and the military already stationed in the affected areas.”
The Zone said the move is part of efforts to strengthen synergy among security units and ensure rapid response to emerging threats.
AIG Garba reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to safeguarding communities, stressing the need for public support.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to protecting lives and property, and citizens are urged to cooperate with security agencies in efforts to combat banditry and other crimes,” the statement read.
He assured residents of Kano and Jigawa of continued efforts to keep the states safe, noting that Zone One “remains unwavering in its dedication to the safety and security of the people.”
The statement urged residents to remain vigilant and assist law enforcement by reporting suspicious persons or activities to the nearest authorities.
