Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has assured residents that the state remains safe and stable, dismissing viral security claims as fake and intended to cause panic.
The governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in a statement on Sunday, said Yusuf gave the assurance after a security council meeting with heads of security agencies in the state.
According to him, no credible intelligence has indicated any imminent threat to public peace, contrary to reports circulating on social media.
He said the government “strongly condemns the deliberate peddling of false and sensational claims” aimed at stirring fear and confusion among citizens.
Bature added that security agencies, working with intelligence units and community structures, had intensified surveillance across the state, with personnel strategically deployed to forestall any breach of peace.
“All parts of Kano are under active watch, backed by a strengthened security architecture,” he said.
The government urged residents to remain calm and avoid sharing unverified information, warning that individuals spreading fake news would face legal consequences.
Yusuf reassured the public of his administration’s commitment to boosting intelligence operations, improving inter-agency collaboration and deploying modern security mechanisms.
“Kano will not bow to fear or misinformation. The state remains safe and fully prepared to confront any threat,” the statement added.
The governor also advised residents to go about their normal activities without panic.
