The Nigerian Army on Friday said troops of Sector 5 under Operation Peace Shield rescued 10 kidnapped victims and recovered arms, ammunition and ransom money during an operation in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The Army disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja, saying the operation followed the abduction of several women from their farms at Ungwan Nungu on Nov. 29.
According to the statement, troops launched an immediate and sustained search-and-rescue mission after the incident.
“At about 0640 hours on 5 December 2025, the troops made decisive contact with the kidnappers as they attempted to receive ransom payment from relatives of the victims,” it said.
It added that the criminals “were met with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon the victims and retreat hastily into nearby forests”.
The Army said the swift action ensured that all the hostages were rescued unharmed.
“The victims, comprising one adult male, three male children, three elderly women and three female children, have since been debriefed and reunited with their families,” the statement said.
Items recovered during the operation included one fabricated AK-47 rifle, one round of 9mm ammunition and ₦1.6 million identified as part of the ransom.
The Army reiterated its commitment to securing communities across the country.
“The Nigerian Army reiterates its unflinching resolve to protect citizens, deny criminals any freedom of action and ensure that communities across the nation can live and work in peace,” it added.
