The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed confidence that the ruling party will retain the presidency and expand its control of states in the 2027 general elections.
Yilwatda stated this in Abuja during a courtesy visit by the Women Leaders Support Advancement, a political advocacy group promoting increased participation of women in governance.
He attributed his optimism to what he described as the growing nationwide acceptance of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Our party is fully prepared for the future, and by the grace of God, the APC will win convincingly in 2027,” the APC chairman said.
He added that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda had created broader opportunities for women and young people, noting that the government’s policies aligned with Nigerians’ aspirations for inclusive governance.
Meanwhile, the APC has postponed its National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings earlier scheduled for Dec. 15 and 16, 2025.
The party’s National Secretary, Sen. Ajibola Bashiru, announced the postponement in a statement issued in Abuja, without giving reasons for the decision.
According to him, the National Caucus meeting will now hold on Dec. 18, while the NEC meeting has been rescheduled for Dec. 19, 2025.
He said that both meetings would take place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
However, party sources said the adjustment was made to accommodate President Tinubu’s schedule and ensure his attendance.
One of the sources also linked the change to the Osun APC governorship primary scheduled for Dec. 13, explaining that the party wanted to allow broader participation by key stakeholders.
Reacting to the development, the APC National Director of Publicity, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim, said such adjustments were not unusual when planning high-level meetings that required the presence of top government officials.
