Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area following a fresh outbreak of communal violence.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Hussaini Hammangabdo, and made available to newsmen on Monday in Yola.

The governor directed security agencies to deploy immediately to areas affected by the renewed communal clash to restore peace and maintain law and order.

“The Adamawa State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area with immediate effect following a renewed communal clash that erupted on Sunday evening,” the statement said.

It added that security operatives had been instructed to move into the area without delay to ensure the safety of lives and property.

The government urged residents of Lamurde to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as efforts are ongoing to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
