The Kano State Police Command has recovered seven stolen vehicles and arrested several suspects in a series of operations targeting vehicle theft and other related crimes, including armed robbery, in the state.
A statement signed on Monday y the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, said the recoveries were made by the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS) following intelligence-led operations.
According to the statement, the recovered vehicles include a Toyota RAV4, Peugeot 406, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Yaris, a truck without body, a white Toyota Matrix and a white Forland truck.
“The Special Intervention Squad, acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, worked tirelessly to track down stolen vehicles and apprehend suspects involved in vehicle theft and armed robbery,” the statement said.
It added that several suspects connected with the crimes had been arrested and were currently assisting the police with ongoing investigations.
“The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” Kiyawa stated.
Commending the officers involved in the operations, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, described their efforts as a demonstration of professionalism and commitment to duty.
Bakori also expressed appreciation to residents of the state for their prayers, support and cooperation with the police, noting that such collaboration was critical to effective crime prevention.
The police command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Kano State and urged members of the public to continue to support security agencies by providing timely and useful information.
