Media platform for women, girls, PWDs unveiled in Kano

A Kano-based journalist, Hannatu Suleiman Abba, on Wednesday unveiled a media platform, Beyond Inclusion Media, to report issues affecting women, girls, persons with disabilities and other marginalised groups across the country.

Abba, who spoke during the unveiling in Kano, said the platform would focus on giving visibility to stories of vulnerable and underrepresented communities often overlooked by mainstream media.

She said the platform had been registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission.

The journalist, who has about 10 years’ experience in reporting social and development issues in Kano, said the initiative was inspired by her interaction with persons living with disabilities and other disadvantaged groups.

According to her, Beyond Inclusion Media is expected to serve as a bridge between the public, government institutions and civil society organisations in promoting advocacy and public awareness on social issues.

She added that the platform would prioritise issues such as access to education and healthcare, social welfare, human rights and policy implementation.

“Beyond Inclusion is more than a media outlet; it is a movement aimed at ensuring that the voices of the most vulnerable are heard,” Abba said.
