The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has announced the commencement of the recruitment of 50,000 police constables into the Force.
The recruitment exercise, according to a statement signed by Torty Njoku Kalu, Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, follows the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to strengthen community policing and expand the manpower of the NPF.
Kalu said the Commission had approved the opening of the recruitment portal for eligible Nigerians, adding that the process would be transparent and merit-based.
According to him, “the commencement of recruitment of fifty thousand (50,000) police constables into the Nigeria Police Force is as directed by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.”
He said the directive was aimed at “strengthening community policing, enhancing internal security, and expanding the manpower base of the Nigeria Police Force.”
Kalu explained that the portal would be open from Monday, Dec. 15, 2025, to Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026, and that all applications must be submitted online via http://www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.
He said General Duty applicants must possess a minimum of five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings in GCE O’level, SSCE, or NECO.
For the Specialists cadre, applicants are required to have a minimum of four credits, including English and Mathematics, alongside “a minimum of three years’ experience and Trade Tests in relevant fields/areas.”
Kalu added that interested candidates must be Nigerians by birth, medically and physically fit, and within the approved age brackets.
He stated that General Duty applicants must be between 18 and 25 years old, while Specialists must be between 18 and 28 years old.
The statement further stressed that “the recruitment exercise will be conducted in the most transparent, merit-based, and credible manner.”
It added that the application is “free as there will be no payment required at any stage of the process, and applicants are warned to be wary of fraudsters.”
Kalu said detailed guidelines and requirements would be available on the official recruitment portal and the verified platforms of the PSC and NPF.
He urged eligible and patriotic Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunity, noting that “the Police Service Commission urges all qualified and patriotic Nigerians to seize this opportunity to serve the nation.”
