Professor Amina Salihi Bayero on Friday formally assumed office as the substantive Vice Chancellor of Northwest University Kano (NWUK), pledging a participatory and strategic leadership approach anchored on her 14-point “PRECISE WIND” Agenda.
During the handover ceremony, Professor Bayero said her administration would operate under a “well-defined and actionable strategic framework” aimed at transforming the university.
She stated, “The ‘PRECISE WIND’ Agenda is designed to strengthen partnerships; advance academic and research excellence; deepen innovation; promote sustainability and inclusive leadership; enhance welfare, discipline, and security; improve infrastructure; accelerate digital transformation; and foster mentorship across all facets of the University.”
Bayero added that the comprehensive blueprint, which aligns with the Vision, Mission, and Core Values of NWUK, “will soon be formally unveiled,” urging the continued support and cooperation of principal officers and the entire university community.
Her appointment was approved by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf following a recommendation by the university’s governing council, which he described as “a rigorous and transparent selection process,” Kano Times reports.
A distinguished academic in Analytical Chemistry, Bayero is the first woman to earn a PhD in Chemistry from Bayero University, Kano. Prior to her appointment, she held several academic and administrative positions, including Head of Department, Dean of the Faculty of Science, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano.
