Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the immediate establishment of a Special Task Force to address security challenges at motor parks and other strategic public areas across the state.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Sunday.
The statement said the decision underscores the governor’s determination to prevent criminal infiltration and safeguard Kano, particularly at key entry and exit points in the metropolitan area.
Motor parks have been identified as high-risk locations due to the high volume of human traffic and recent security incidents, including the arrest of suspected criminals at Kofar Ruwa Motor Park.
According to the statement, “The task force will conduct intensive surveillance, gather intelligence, and carry out coordinated security operations at motor parks and other vulnerable locations. Its operations will also extend to ancillary areas such as filling stations and public spaces where transient populations often congregate.”
Governor Yusuf was quoted as saying, “This measure is a proactive step aimed at neutralizing threats before they escalate. It is intended to strengthen inter-agency coordination and restore public confidence.”
He further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment, stating, “We have a zero-tolerance stance on criminality and will fully support our security agencies in protecting lives and property across Kano State.”
