Kano Fresh Bandit Attack: Two Victims Escaped

Zirin Mahauta community in Lakwaya Ward, Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State, has been thrown into fear following a fresh attack by suspected bandits, which led to the abduction of four residents.

According to a statement signed by Auwalu Musa, Yola Zonal Information Officer, the attack involved two males and two females. Fortunately, two of the victims, both females, have regained their freedom, while efforts are ongoing to secure the safe release of the remaining two male victims.

Reacting to the incident, the Executive Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government, Dr. Mani Tsoho, through his Vice Chairman, Hon. Abdulminin Garba Lakwaya, expressed deep sympathy with the affected families.

He said,”We are profoundly concerned and saddened by this unfortunate incident. The government remains committed to protecting lives and property in Lakwaya Ward and the entire Gwarzo Local Government Area.”

Dr. Tsoho stressed that the local government is determined to strengthen collaboration with security agencies through intensified patrols, intelligence gathering, and proactive measures to prevent future attacks.

He urged residents to continue cooperating with security operatives by providing timely and credible information while cautioning against spreading rumours that could incite panic.

He further disclosed that security agencies have been given full directives and logistical support to track down the perpetrators, dismantle their hideouts, and ensure the immediate rescue of the remaining victims.

He added,”We will continue to work closely with traditional rulers, community leaders, ward heads, and youth groups to enhance information sharing and enforce preventive measures against unauthorized movements, particularly in rural communities.”

The Chairman also issued a stern warning to criminal elements, asserting that Gwarzo Local Government will not be a safe haven for bandits and that anyone involved in such criminal activities will face the full weight of the law.

He commended the dedication and bravery of security personnel and called on residents to pray for lasting peace in Gwarzo Local Government Area, Kano State, and Nigeria at large.
