Kano Residents Mourn Brutal Killing

Residents of Maraba Quarters in Kano were left in shock yesterday following the brutal killing of a local man at Yusuf Garko Mosque.

The Kano State Police Command confirmed that normalcy has been restored in the area after the gruesome incident. In a statement, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Police Public Relations Officer, said the victim, identified as Ladan Malam Zubairu, was “brutally slaughtered by an unknown assailant.”

Eyewitnesses told Daily Post that the suspect was pursued by an angry mob and lynched on the spot. The mob reportedly set ablaze the suspect’s residence, causing significant property damage. Despite the chaos, the police assured that “normalcy has been restored in the area, with security personnel deployed to maintain law and order.”

CSP Kiyawa added that the police investigation team had “recovered the victim’s throat from the suspect’s pocket, and both bodies have been taken to Mohammed Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital Kano, all certified dead and awaiting autopsy.”

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has ordered a “thorough and comprehensive investigation into the incident, with a view to bringing the perpetrators to justice,” the statement added.

The police command appealed to residents to “remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies as the investigation unfolds,” urging anyone with information to come forward. CSP Kiyawa assured that “all information will be treated with confidentiality.”
