President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday unveiled a commemorative book titled From Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari, in honour of the late former president.
The unveiling ceremony was held at the State House Banquet Hall in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, and was chaired by former Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including state governors and members of Buhari’s family.
The multi-volume book chronicles Buhari’s journey from a military officer to head of state between 1983 and 1985, and later as Nigeria’s democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023.
Edited by Dr. Udu Yakubu, the work includes contributions such as a memoir from former presidential spokesperson Femi Adesina. It highlights Buhari’s efforts in national unity, anti-corruption initiatives, and infrastructure development.
The publication also addresses ongoing debates surrounding Buhari’s economic policies and security challenges during his tenure.
Buhari passed away on July 13, 2025, at the age of 82 in a London clinic after a prolonged illness. His remains were returned to Nigeria and laid to rest in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, in a state funeral attended by regional leaders.
