A coalition of former local government chairmen in Kano State has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, while reaffirming their loyalty to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state under Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The endorsement was announced in a statement issued on behalf of the group by Hon. Hassan Garban Kauye Farawa, Chairman of the ALGON Integrity Group, 2021–2024 tenure.
According to the statement, the former chairmen, who served between 2014 and 2024 under the administration of Dr. Ganduje, met under the platform of the ALGON Integrity Group, where they unanimously adopted the position.
“We, the former Local Government Chairmen from 2014 to 2024 under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, gathered today under the auspices of the ALGON Integrity Group,” Farawa said.
He disclosed that the decision was reached during a meeting with members of the Unity Group led by Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi.
“During our meeting with the Unity Group members, we unanimously endorsed President Asiwaju’s second term bid and reaffirmed our loyalty to the APC leadership in Kano State under the guidance of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje,” the statement read.
The group also called on party members to work together for the unity and success of the APC in the state, stressing the need for collective decision-making.
“We urge all party members to join hands together for the benefit and success of our great party. We agree that any decision affecting the party should be taken collectively by all stakeholders under the leadership of Dr. Ganduje,” Farawa added.
Beyond politics, the former council chairmen expressed concern over security challenges in Kano State, calling for coordinated action among stakeholders.
“Furthermore, the group formally calls upon all APC stakeholders in Kano State to demonstrate collective responsibility by supporting coordinated efforts to address the prevailing security challenges in the state,” the statement said.
They urged stakeholders to engage relevant authorities to ensure prompt federal government intervention aimed at restoring peace and protecting lives and property across the state.
