Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has directed postgraduate students who were unable to complete their programmes within the stipulated timeframe to formally apply for amnesty through the appropriate channel.
The university, in a notice issued on Thursday, said the directive applies to all affected PhD and Academic Master’s students.
According to the statement, such students are required to write a formal letter requesting amnesty, addressed to the Provost, College of Postgraduate Studies.
“This is to inform all Postgraduate students (PhD and Academic Masters) of Bayero University, Kano, who were unable to graduate within the stipulated timeframe of their respective programmes, that they are required to write a formal letter requesting for amnesty,” the university stated.
It added that the letter must be routed through the students’ respective Heads of Department for consideration.
“The letter should be addressed to the Provost, College of Postgraduate Studies, and routed through the Head of Department for consideration,” the statement said.
The university also advised students to ignore an earlier notice which directed them to write to the Vice-Chancellor, explaining that the instruction had been reviewed.
“Kindly disregard the earlier notice which requested students to write to the Vice-Chancellor, as this instruction has been revised,” it said.
BUK urged all concerned students to comply with the updated directive and to ensure the information is widely circulated.
“All concerned students are advised to comply accordingly. Please also share this notice to all groups where the previous notice was shared,” the statement added.
