Ganduje Parallel Hisbah Plot: Kano First Applauds Gov Yusuf’s Maturity

A civil society organisation, Kano First, has commended the Kano State Government under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for what it described as a mature and measured response to the reported plan by a former governor of the state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to establish an independent Hisbah organisation.

The group gave the commendation in a statement issued on Wednesday in Kano by its representative, Comrade Abdulkadir Balarabe.

Balarabe said Governor Yusuf’s prompt response to the development demonstrated firm control of the affairs of the state and helped avert a situation that could have degenerated into chaos.

According to him, the reported proposal to establish a parallel Hisbah structure by a former governor amounted to a direct challenge to the authority of the state government.

He noted that Ganduje’s reported decision to abandon the idea underscored the maturity and leadership style of the present administration in handling sensitive issues.

Kano First urged peace-loving residents of the state to continue to support the Yusuf-led administration and to avoid actions capable of undermining peace and stability in Kano.

The group also expressed appreciation to well-meaning individuals and elders in the state for refusing to support what it described as an ill-advised plan to establish a parallel Hisbah organisation.
