President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated a Committee on Strategy, Conflict Resolution, and Mobilisation to address internal disputes within the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party ramps up preparations for the 2027 general elections.
A statement signed on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the inauguration.
The committee, chaired by Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has former APC National Legal Adviser, Muiz Banire, serving as member-secretary. Its membership includes governors, senators, ministers, and other key party stakeholders.
Senators and governors on the committee include Adamu Aliero, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), and Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta). Others include Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani; Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara; Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; and former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.
At the inauguration, Buni expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for entrusting the committee with the responsibility, assuring that members would carry out their duties with dedication.
“The committee will engage in strategic consultations to develop a productive and result-oriented strategy that will stand the test of time. We shall implement a system that gives everyone, especially aggrieved parties, a sense of belonging and inclusion,” Buni said.
He added that the committee would also assess proactive measures and potential threats in conflict resolution, urging members not to let personal interests override the collective goals of the party.
The inauguration follows President Tinubu’s call for unity within the APC during the party’s 15th National Executive Committee meeting on December 19 at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.
