Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Wednesday described the sudden death of two serving members of the Kano State House of Assembly as an “indescribable loss.”
The governor, in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the near-simultaneous demise of Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji, representing Kano Municipal Local Government Area and Chairman of the House Committee on Pilgrims, and Hon. Aminu Sa’adu of Ungoggo Local Government Area, Chairman of the Appropriation Committee, was a “dark and heartbreaking moment” in the state’s history.
Governor Yusuf said the tragedy had plunged both the government and the people of Kano into collective grief, stressing that losing two vibrant lawmakers within hours was a blow “that words can hardly describe.”
He described the late legislators as “dedicated public servants, loyal politicians, and dependable voices of their constituents,” noting that their commitment to lawmaking and grassroots representation was unquestionable.
The governor extended his condolences to the bereaved families, the leadership and members of the Kano State House of Assembly, and the people of Kano Municipal and Ungoggo Local Government Areas.
He prayed that Allah (SWT) forgives their shortcomings, grants them Aljannatul Firdaus, and gives strength to their families and the people of Kano to bear the loss.
Governor Yusuf also urged the people of the state to remain calm, united, and prayerful, describing the tragedy as a test of faith and collective resilience.
Hon. Aminu Sa’adu has been laid to rest at Ungoggo Cemetery, while funeral rites for Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Emir’s Palace Mosque.
The statement added, “On behalf of the government and the good people of Kano State, we extend our condolences to the Kano State House of Assembly, under the able leadership of Speaker Rt. Hon. Jibrin Ismail Falgore, and the families of the deceased lawmakers. May Aljannatul Firdaus be their final abode. Amen.”
