Mob Kills Three Suspects, Burns NSCDC Office in Kano

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has confirmed that a mob attacked its outpost at Danmaje in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, killing three suspects and setting the facility on fire.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Kano.

According to Abdullahi, the incident occurred at about 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2025, when residents of the Yansango community brought three unidentified suspects, alleged to be motorcycle thieves, to the NSCDC outpost at Danmaje.

“The suspects were reportedly apprehended at a location known for motorcycle robbery within the area,” he said.

Abdullahi explained that before any investigation could commence, residents from various communities, including Yansango, Madinawa, Gagarawa, Limawa, Yankatsari, Danmaje, and Gurjiya, converged at the outpost and demanded that the suspects be released to them.

“The situation escalated rapidly as the mob cordoned off the office. Before reinforcements could arrive, the mob forcefully gained entry into the outpost, set it on fire, and lynched the three suspects,” Abdullahi said.

He added that officers on duty managed to escape, though three sustained varying degrees of injuries and are currently receiving medical attention.

The NSCDC has appealed to residents of Dawakin Kudu and the general public to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands.

Abdullahi further stated that the Corps’ State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan-Agalama, under the directive of the Commandant-General, had constituted a committee of inquiry to conduct a full-scale investigation into the incident.

“Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack, with a view to bringing them to justice,” he said, reiterating the Corps’ commitment to protecting lives and property.
